Differences between the stories from the BOOKS and its MOVIES

I found out that movies like Twilight don’t really follow what’s on its books. And worst, some of the ideas are screwed and changed! Tsk2x… the authors should not allow that. Now here are some observations of mine taken from my recently read books.

·         New Moon

On the Movie:

There’s no thrill when Alice Cullen showed up again into Bella Swan’s house. It’s like she just appeared, you know? No excitement.

On the Book:

Stephenie Meyer emphasized the nervousness of Bella as she was carefully entering the room. She thought Victoria was the one who was waiting for her. ( Geeez! This is the most thrilling part for me! And yet, it was not nicely shown in the movie!)

·         Dear John
                On the Movie:
-          Tim, who happened to be the bestfriend of Savannah (the lead girl), was the father of Alan (the special child).
-          John Tyree(the leading man) was given a ride home by Tim on the first day they met. Tim even had brought Alan with him.
-          John and Savannah made love on the first time John went home from the army. And they did it in Savannah’s house.
-          John and Mr. Tyree(his dad) had the last words for each other before Mr. Tyree died at the hospital.
-          John only went home twice. And on the second time he went home, he and Savannah were not together anymore.
-          They only had an argument when Savannah found out that John had reupped for the army in order to volunteer for the Iraq-America War during an occasion on Savannah’s place.

                On the Book:
-          I was totally shocked! It was never mentioned in the book that Tim has a child! And absolutely, Alan wasn’t his son, but his brother! C’mon!
-          And John went home alone. He was never given a ride by Tim.
-          The couple (John & Savannah) made love on the 2nd time John went home and not on the first. And hey! They didn’t do it a Savannah’s parents’ house! That event took place at Savannah’s apartment after they had reconciled due to a small fight. Arrrgh!
-          John was on the camp when he was informed that he’s father already died. They never had a heart-to-heart talk.
-          John had two homecomings before he and Savannah broke up. And it was really untrue that they only had been together on the first homecoming of John.
-          John and Savannah never had a face-to-face talk about John’s reapplying for the army. As much as I remember it, John informed Savannah about it through either a phone call or a letter.
-           And there’s never an occasion or a party on Savannah’s home. PERIOD.

·         Princess Diaries

On the Movie:
-          On the Princess Diaries 1 movie, Mia Thermopolis was I think informed by a letter?
-          Her father was already dead when she found out that she was the princess of Genovia.
-          Mia’s Grandmere is very kind and not really strict.
-          The time Josh Richter kissed Mia was during an event of the AEHS on the beach.
-          There is no such Mr. Frank Gianini.
-          Lars (the bodyguard of Mia) had a dance with the Dowager Princess.

On the Book:

-          Mia Thermopolis had discovered her royalty through her dad!
-          Mia’s dad was not dead at all! He had just suffered from a cancer! You killed him in the movie!
-          Grandmere is evil. Well, not really as evil as satan, but she made Mia’s life miserable doing those Princess lessons.
-          I can’t remember any statement on the book that Josh Richter kissed Mia during an event in the beach. All the school events happened in their school grounds.
-          Mr. Frank Gianini was mentioned even on the first book of the Princess Diaries series. He was Mia’s Algebra’s teacher who happened to have a baby with Mia’s single mom.
-          There would be no chance that Lars could have a dance with Grandmere. Because 1, Grandmere is not the kind who talks to bodyguards like Lars unless she would have something to command him. And 2) because Grandmere never taught Mia a dance lesson anyway.
And that’s it. I can’t completely give all the flaws of those movies because honestly, I already forgot most of them. He he! But if you wanna help me, just comment it here…. Ergo, those movies are not the copied video version of their books….. hmp!
